travelling alone I made friends for life. my training in emotional quotient began. building rapport rapidly was a soft skill that has served still today
working my way from editor to head of tv at the australian channel, i tripled output with half the resources. i said it could be done when they told me it couldn't be. it was here i learnt to back my judgement.
at the white agency, i got a taste of agency politics. not knowing i was a generalist, i was told to stay in my lane. as many of us now know, we don't live in lanes, we create our own highways.
i broke free of the agency chains that kept me bound. i created live activations for digial upfronts. created soundscapes for sports presentations. went west to tell stories about kids who didn't fit at school. the variety enthralled me.
when we were locked in doors, i had to do something. so i built a telehealth app using no code tools. the app was called 'peerhear' and it served as an online counselling service for peer workers.
as the world returned to normal, an opportunity arose to create a tv show. commissioned by newscorp. i pitched the concept, wrote the episode outlines, produced the series and directed the talent. 6 months and 8 x half hour episodes later, we had made 'make it delicious'
